If your report has many different units of measure, the totals will not be very meaningful. If the different units of measure can be converted to a common unit, the report and totals would make a lot more sense. You can create a unit conversion type to do this for you. Here’s how it’s done.
1. Run transaction RSUOM. Enter a name for the conversion type and click on create.

2. Enter a description and choose a conversion factor. The Central Units of Measure are stored in table T006. These are generally extracted from your source system by right clicking on the source system in RSA1 and selecting ‘Transfer Global Settings’. This can also be scheduled in the process chain.

3. On the UoM tab select the source and target units. You can choose to use a variable to determine the target UoM. The user will then be prompted to select a target UoM when running the query.

4. The net step is to use the unit conversion type in your query. In query designer, select the key figure that you would like to apply the conversion to and click on the Conversions tab under Properties. Choose your conversion type from the drop-down under Unit Conversion, Conversion Type and select the Target UoM if applicable.

5. Save your query and run it!
